Hey there, welcome to BCA.
We’re an architecture studio in Northcote that loves designing contemporary, functional and environmentally-conscious homes.
We create naturally comfortable houses that embrace the elements and use natural materials to be delightful to occupy with minimal environmental impact.
We're interested in the power of architecture to positively impact our lives and lift our spirits while having minimal environmental footprint. Sustainability and Biophylia are two concepts that inform all of the work we do.
Sustainability
We’re concerned about the impact human activity has on our environment and so we design to minimise resources consumed in the manufacture and operation of our buildings. We consider the specific environmental conditions of each site so that our buildings work with Australia’s unique elements – warming sun, cooling breezes, local rainfall, the topography and foliage.
We are also certified Passive House Designers enabling us to design to the rigorous Passivhaus standard of energy efficient construction.
Biophylia
Biophylia, the innate human desire to connect with nature and other living things, inspires our approach - designing spaces that enable people to embrace and interact with their environment, and each other.
